International Amber Association

International Amber Association continues the tradition of connecting people professionally associated with amber. The tradition exists in Gdańsk for over half a millennium!

The main goals of the International Amber Association are the protection of its members, training future amber manufacturers and keeping the high position of amber in Poland and all over the world. The association ensures constant cooperation with foreign scientific centers, creates a system for identifying Baltic amber, cooperates with authorities and self-government in the fields of amber industry and amber manufacture protection. It inspires and conducts publishing activities, cooperates with schools and training centers and undertakes various activities to ensure the long-term development of the Polish amber industry.

It is the only international group of designers, producents, scientists, museum professionals, traders, collectors, and amber enthusiasts. The association has over 230 members from 30 different countries. All activities of the International Amber Association revolve around:

• Gdańsk Amber Laboratory – it carries out various tests which provide the certificates of authenticity of amber products and amber stones.
• Courses and workshops – the association organizes various meetings to share the knowledge necessary to work with amber, as well as practical workshops that allow you to learn more about amber
• Publications – International Amber Association deals with publishing, publishes books, brochures, leaflets about amber. It also publishes coloring books for children and the bilingual newsletter Bursztynisko which is devoted to amber and amber artists. It is published in two languages and contains information about amber and amber craft.
• Exhibitions – Various exhibitions of amber artworks take place in the gallery of the International Amber Association.
• Events – The association organizes events to promote knowledge about amber and stone itself.
